Electrum Wallet
Terms of Use
These Terms govern your access to the Electrum Wallet website and any Electrum Wallet software that links to them. Please read them carefully before using the service.
Effective and last updated: October 5, 2026
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing the website or downloading, installing, or using Electrum Wallet software, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use the service for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement, or meet the higher age required where you live. You may use the service only where permitted by applicable law. The service is not offered to any person or in any jurisdiction where its use would be unlawful.
3. Promotional website
The current website provides product information only. It does not create or host a wallet, hold digital assets, execute transactions, provide an account, or provide custody, exchange, brokerage, banking, payment, investment, tax, or legal services.
4. Self-custody and your responsibilities
Electrum Wallet is intended to be self-custody software. You are solely responsible for controlling and securing your device, recovery phrase, private keys, passphrases, credentials, and backups. We do not have access to them and cannot recover, reset, freeze, restore, or replace them.
- Keep recovery material secret, accurate, and stored securely offline.
- Verify every destination address, amount, network, and fee before approving a transaction.
- Use trusted devices and maintain appropriate device security and backups.
- Understand that loss or compromise of wallet credentials may cause permanent loss of Bitcoin.
5. Bitcoin transactions and network risks
Bitcoin transactions are submitted to a decentralized network outside our control. Transactions may be delayed, rejected, replaced, incorrectly addressed, or permanently recorded. Confirmed transactions are generally irreversible. Network fees, confirmation times, protocol rules, forks, congestion, and asset value can change without notice.
You bear all risks associated with Bitcoin, including price volatility, software or protocol defects, regulatory changes, scams, lost credentials, and third-party failures. We do not guarantee that any transaction will be accepted, confirmed, or completed.
6. Third-party services
The service may rely on or link to third-party websites, app marketplaces, device platforms, and public Bitcoin infrastructure. We do not control or endorse those services and are not responsible for their availability, content, security, fees, or conduct. Your use of them may be governed by separate terms and privacy policies.
7. App marketplace terms
If you obtain an Electrum Wallet app through Apple’s App Store, these Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support.
To the extent required by applicable marketplace terms, the marketplace provider and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer law or the marketplace’s standard end-user license terms.
8. Acceptable use
You may not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, distribute malware, infringe rights, evade sanctions, or use it for fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, or any other unlawful activity. You are responsible for complying with all laws, tax obligations, sanctions, and restrictions that apply to you.
9. Ownership and license
The service, branding, interface, text, and other materials are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use released software for its intended purpose. Open-source components remain governed by their respective licenses.
10. No financial advice
Information provided through the website or software is general information only. It is not financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and it is not a recommendation or solicitation to buy, sell, or hold Bitcoin. You should obtain independent professional advice where appropriate.
11. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express, implied, or statutory, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, security, availability, accuracy, or error-free operation. We do not warrant uninterrupted access, compatibility with every device, or the security or operation of the Bitcoin network or third-party services.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Electrum Wallet and its operators, affiliates, contributors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, digital assets, or business interruption arising from the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, our aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the service during the preceding 12 months or USD $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so these limits may not fully apply to you.
13. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Electrum Wallet and its operators, affiliates, contributors, and service providers from claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful use of the service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of another person’s rights.
14. Suspension, termination, and changes
We may change, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the website or software, and may restrict access where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, or misuse. You may stop using the service at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms.
15. Governing law and consumer rights
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where the service operator is established, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Courts with lawful jurisdiction may hear disputes. If you are a consumer, mandatory rights and protections in your country of residence remain unaffected, and nothing in these Terms requires you to waive rights that cannot legally be waived.
16. General terms
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement concerning the service. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, financing, or transfer of the service.
17. Updates and contact
We may update these Terms as the service or law changes. Revised Terms will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after the revised Terms take effect means you accept them, to the extent permitted by law.
